Three-tier approach for automation of hygienic processes

In food and beverage industries, typically breweries and dairies, the key to finding the best possible automation system is a thorough analysis of each individual part of the plant or installation. In this way, the question of where plant intelligence should rest can be answered: i.e. does the nature of the application require centralised control interfacing to non-intelligent nodes, or does the physical size of the system mean that control has to be decentralised - using a fieldbus system and intelligent valves and actuators.

Magnetic curves for flat-top chains to convey products smoothly

Chain manufacturer iwis antriebssysteme GmbH is unveiling its newly developed magnetic curves for flat-top chains. These new magnetic curves will be marketed under iwis' Flexon brand. They feature almost pulsation-free running as a result of uniformly aligned magnetic fluxes throughout all tracks, thus conveying products for the Beverage, Food and Packaging industry with very low tensions and reduced noise.

SATO's label printer meets new European law on food traceability

SATO, a leader in barcode printing, labelling and EPC/RFID, is announcing that its TH2 label printer enables food manufacturers to comply with the latest requirements brought by a new European law on food traceability. The law has been introduced to give better information to consumers. The list of information that now need to show on labels for pre-packed foods has been applicable since December 2011 and will be compulsory throughout Europe from December 2014.

Stainless steel power frame for MasoSine SPS pumps

For use where hygiene is of paramount importance, such as in the food, beverage and cosmetic sectors, Watson-Marlow Pumps Group is introducing a Stainless Steel Power Frame for its MasoSine SPS pumps. This development upgrades the range to 3A certification for CIP. The fact that the pump is CIP-able is certified from an independent German milk institute. The Stainless Steel Power Frame is easy to retrofit as an exchangeable spare part and offers customers significant additional value without additional cost. The paint-free and corrosion resistant Stainless Steel Power Frame is designed to suit the 2", 2.5" and 4" MasoSine SPS pumps, which offer flow rates of 250 litres per hour right up to 41,760 litres per hour.
