Norgren has appointed Richard Fenton as European Chief Finance Officer (CFO). A member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, Richard has a wealth of commercial and finance experience in industry.

Additive manufacture has designs on metal...

To my surprise, I've become a bit of a fan of the US Sherlock Holmes drama 'Elementary'. It took a little while to get used to the idea of it being set in modern day New York rather than old London Town, and that sidekick John Watson was now Joan Watson, but with its intelligent storylines, sharp dialogue and believable characterisation, it's become something of a favourite, enjoying 'series link' status on my recorder. This week's episode was particularly interesting from an engineering perspective (as well as for the cameo from Sean Pertwee as a disgraced inspector Lestrade). We all knew the husband had done it; the question was how could he have shot his wife and then disposed of the murder weapon so quickly? The police were on the scene within minutes, and there would have been no time to get rid of the gun, which seemed to indicate that a third party must have committed the crime.

Lift and Reseal campaign gains momentum

The Lift and Reseal initiative from tesa is picking up speed, with some of the UK's leading food manufacturers in talks with the company about the benefits of its dynamic resealing tape. Working closely with packaging and procurement specialists, the tesacohesion team, with its all-embracing approach to customer service and process improvement, has developed an efficient in-line application called Lift & Reseal, which is already being used by one of the country's foremost suppliers of snacking products.

Standard pricing for Rittal stainless steel cooling units

Rittal now have standard pricing for the stainless steel variants of their cooling units, including those from the TopTherm Generation Blue e range. A selection of wall-mounted cooling units, with nominal outputs in the range 300-1500W and rated operating voltages of 230V AC and 400V AC, are now also available from stock.
