Switches for hazardous areas

Type T switches, which use cam-type switching elements, are available in ATEX versions with ratings from 32A to 100A, while ATEX Type P switch disconnectors, which have direct-driven contacts, cover the range 25A to 100A. All types and ratings are approved for use in dust areas, zone 22, category 3, and all are approved for device group II, which covers all applications except those associated with mining.

The new ATEX switches from Moeller Electric are suitable as on/off, manual override or safety switches, and the Type P versions, when fitted with a suitable operator, can be used to provide an emergency stop function as well as isolation.

The switches are supplied fitted in durable, impact-resistant two-part enclosures which have an IP65 ingress protection rating. A wide range of operators is available, including types with provision for fitting up to three padlocks to secure them in the off position, so that maintenance and repair work on the isolated equipment can be carried out in complete safety.
