igus dryspin lead screw drives for high efficiency and low noise

igus has released a short video demonstrating some of the features and benefits of its dryspin lead screw drives that enable engineers to achieve higher efficiency, quieter operation and longer lifetime. Typical applications for this drive technology include laboratory automation, automotive manufacturing, packaging and handling equipment.

When supplied with a lead screw nut made of iglidur J, the dryspin drives are self-lubricating and maintenance-free, as well as being lightweight and resistant to dirt, chemicals and humidity. By eliminating the need for additional lubricants, the dryspin lead screws are suitable for applications in hygienic environments such as those found in laboratory automation and medical equipment. The lead screw nuts are also available in iglidur A180, which conforms to FDA guidelines for the food and drinks industry.

Robert Dumayne, a director at igus, says: "Amongst the most innovative features of the drylin leadscrew drive is its optimised thread angle for longer life and enhanced efficiency. The dryspin technology employs obtuse thread angles instead of the acute angles found in standard symmetrical leadscrew drives - the result being less transverse force. In addition, the optimised radius thread design helps reduce the transmission of vibrations that can cause noise."

To meet the needs of engineers and designers, the drylin lead screw drives are available for delivery within three working days. For more information about dryspin, go to www.igus.co.uk/dryspin or watch this short video.
