Long-life AC parallel shaft gearmotors run quieter

To support growing OEM interest in designing equipment for export markets, Bison Gear is introducing its new VWDIR14 AC parallel shaft gearmotors which are designed as Von Weise Drop-In Replacements and are also compatible with most globally available AC power sources. Utilising 1/20HP (37.3W) AC motors that can be operated from either 115V or 230V, 60Hz or 50Hz power sources, the new gearmotors are available in six standard, off-the-shelf models. With gear ratios from 10:1 to 494:1, they offer corresponding output speeds from 181 to 4rpm, and continuous torque ratings up to 50in-lbs (5.65Nm). The totally enclosed non-ventilated (TENV) permanent split capacitor (PSC) AC motors and integral gear reducers are reversible and feature all-position face mounting with a 50lb (22.7kg) overhung load capability.

Hygienic hoses are stronger, lighter and more flexible

Up to 50 per cent lighter, 10 per cent stronger and substantially more flexible than conventional process hoses, the new RX range of hygienic hose assemblies from Flexible Hose Supplies (FHS was acquired by Eriks in July 2007) is also certified ADI (Animal Derived Ingredients) free, thereby eliminating any risk of BSE prion contamination. The range is suitable for all commercial cleaning products, making the hoses a sound choice for use in hygienic applications in the food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries.

High-pressure compressors deliver Class 0 oil-free air

Atlas Copco claims that its ZD high-pressure compressors are the first to offer PET packaging production the security of 100 per cent certified oil-free air with a Class 0 certification. Risk of any contamination by oil is therefore effectively eliminated during PET bottle blowing for the bottled water, soft drinks, fruit juice and beverage industry. Testing for the ISO 8573-1 Class 0 certification was carried out using the most stringent test methods available, simulating realistic industrial environments. At all test conditions, no traces of oil could be detected and the compressed air was certified to be Class 0 in terms of oil content. The Atlas Copco ZD is claimed to be the most energy-efficient and quietest 40-bar compressor available, while maintaining the flexibility and reliability required by the high-volume PET blowing market.
