PyroPen U pocket-sized IR thermometer has USB output

Calex Electronics' new PyroPen U is a pocket-sized infrared thermometer that conveniently clips into a pocket, just like a pen. It measures temperatures from -20 to +500degC with a resolution of 0.1deg and provides instantaneous, maximum, minimum and average readings in degC or degF. Adjustable emissivity allows the unit to measure different materials and a built-in laser makes sighting simple.

Safety switches are approved for use in hazardous areas

Schneider Electric has launched a new range of safety switches suitable for a broad span of hazardous areas (potentially explosive atmospheres). The switches are ATEX-approved and available as coded non-contact type (XCSDMC..Ex) or tongue-operated type (XCSA/B/C..Ex) for detection of opening guards.

Bison adds parallel-shaft AC gearmotors to VWDIR range

New parallel-shaft AC gearmotors are being added to the expanding Von Weise Drop-In Replacement (VWDIR) gearmotor line from Bison Gear & Engineering Corporation. Available in eight standard models, the new VWDIR20 AC gearmotors feature 1/4 horsepower (186W) 115V, 60Hz split-phase electric motors. The compact, integral gear reducers benefit from a phenolic high-speed gear for low noise and steel gearing in subsequent stages, with ratios ranging from 14:1 to 286:1. Corresponding fixed output speeds are from 120-6rpm, with continuous torque ratings from 11.3-67.8Nm (100 to 600inlb). The gearmotors feature built-in mountings, with overhung load (OHL) capability up to 136.4kg (300lbs).

New Accelnet servo drive suits extreme environments

Copley Controls is developing a hardened version of the versatile panel-mounting Accelnet servo drive to meet both military and extreme industrial environments. The drive's extended temperature, humidity, vibration and shock ranges provide added security in non-extreme applications. Designated the series R20, the hardened drives provide networking and standalone motion control for brushed and brushless motors, and direct-drive linear motors and actuators. R20 drives deliver up to 3.200kW peak power and are available for operating voltages of 55V, 90V and 180V, and deliver 9A, 18A and 36A peak currents.
