WEG has launched WEGSEE+, a software platform designed to simulate energy efficiency projects. The tool enables users to analyse the energy impact of changes to electric motors, drives and gearboxes.

By comparing equipment configurations, WEGSEE+ provides valuable KPIs on energy consumption, ROI, and CO2 emissions, empowering companies to make informed decisions that enhance operational performance and sustainability.
Almost half of the energy produced in Europe is consumed by industrial equipment. The European Commission is taking significant action to control and minimise industrial energy consumption through the implementation of energy initiatives. This includes the EU Ecodesign directive for motor efficiency, which means that motors between 75 kW and 200 kW sold in the EU must achieve an energy efficiency level equivalent to IE4.
Paired with these governmental efforts is a growing industry desire to monitor and control energy consumption. This is driven by a need to manage energy costs as well as pressures to reduce scope one and two emissions. WEGSEE+ provides the necessary tools to meet these demands.
With its intuitive interface, WEGSEE+ collects and displays detailed insights of potential energy savings based on different simulations of motors, drives and gearboxes. The tool enables operators to analyse the feasibility and potential of energy saving projects and evaluates the potential return on investment before implementing changes.
"The launch of WEGSEE+ marks a significant step forward in energy management for industrial applications," said Marek Lukaszczyk, marketing manager for Europe and the Middle East at WEG. "By simulating the impact of different equipment configurations, WEGSEE+ reduces time and energy consumption during the planning phase, optimising resources and maximising benefits."
This innovation reinforces WEG's commitment to sustainability and technological advancement. The company recently achieved EcoVadis gold with an impressive score of 72 in its 2023 assessment. This award places WEG in the top five per cent of the world's most sustainable companies.
"WEG has always prioritised sustainability," continued Lukaszczyk. "The launch of WEGSEE+ enables our customers to take energy management into their own hands and optimise resources in an intelligent way."
The launch of WEGSEE+ coincides with the recent release of the W23 Sync+ motor. With an efficiency rating of IE5, and therefore surpassing EU standards, it combines permanent magnet (PM), ferrite or neodymium magnets and synchronous reluctance (SynRM) motor technologies, providing higher efficiency across all speeds compared with conventional induction motors.
